Okay, Joyce and Giles technically did get together, but that was band candy craziness. Their affection lingered for the next two seasons; Giles even got a sad, silent moment to reflect while listening to his and Joyce’s favorite Cream record after she died. But they never got a chance to really explore it. Maybe it would have been too on-the-nose, Buffy’s mother and her father figure being in a relationship together. But he brought something out in her that no else did, and it was always fun to see Giles with someone, since he so rarely was.
